If you are experiencing a dental issue, it’s best not to wait to call your Elk Grove, CA, dentist. Maybe you think the problem will go away on its own, but the truth is that waiting could cause more serious dental concerns, especially if your tooth needs to be extracted. The dental team at Laguna Springs Dental always has your oral health in mind, so we encourage you to contact us if you have any dental issues.

What Are the Signs You May Need a Tooth Extraction?

Naturally, you want to keep your teeth, and your dentist wants that as well, but certain circumstances may warrant a tooth extraction. If you are experiencing any of the following concerns, please get in touch with our dental office as soon as possible:

Pain in your gums or jaw – If you are experiencing pain that won’t go away, it clearly indicates something isn’t right. Dental pain could be the result of an infection, tooth decay, or an impacted tooth (often a wisdom tooth), and you may need to have a tooth extracted.

Loose teeth – If any of your teeth seem loose, you may be suffering from advanced periodontal disease. If that’s the case, your jawbone may have softened, causing your teeth to loosen. Loose teeth sometimes need to be extracted.

Severely broken teeth – If you have suffered a trauma or injury and broken a tooth down to its root or below your gumline, it’s possible that your tooth may need to be extracted. Contact our dental office right away for an appointment.

Crowded teeth – If you are undergoing orthodontic treatment, your dentist may recommend a tooth extraction to make room for your other teeth to realign and straighten. Also, if your wisdom teeth don’t have room to come in at the back of your mouth, you may need to have them removed.
